Quartet DNA
Some folks can go from quartet work to solo career pretty naturally: Janet Paschal, Ivan Parker, and Kirk Talley, for instance. Others, not so much. Case in point: Tony Peace. I happened to catch a Tony Peace solo cut on the radio (online, natch) this morning and … well, perhaps things are best summed up by the fact that I can’t remember the words, the title, or the tune. What I do remember thinking is that I was underwhelmed and not impressed … that the BGVs sounded like they had been phoned in and that some guys just have quartet work genetically hardwired into their voices. Tony, get thee back to a quartet … pronto.
