Fruit of the Vine

The avfl interns finally decided to straggle in from their extended spring break and got back to work, which turned up this news from the world of producing and recording: veteran producer Wayne Haun (along with producer and mixer Kevin Ward) have started their own label, Vine Records. The first big score for the label: the venerable Lewis Family, who will be releasing their next project (in May) on the Vine label (Haun, repeatedly a Dove-award winner for his work with the Lewis family, is producing). Haun says starting a label wasn’t what he was expecting to do but “when an opportunity that big hits, you might as well go with it.” Haun is meeting with distributors and fielding calls from “several” sg artists and groups finishing up their current contracts and looking for a new home. Sounds like the label will get an early shot in the arm, thanks to CMT. The cable channel has been covering the recording of the new album and is planning a feature on the family.
