I remember Bill Traylor when he was plugging 45s for Benson back in the early 80's. I don't know if he necessarily has to be associated with Homeland (I'm not up on all the intervening history), but it would be nice if there were some viable niche labels if only primarily for distribution and promotional purposes.

More and more groups are capable of handling those chores on their own but for those that aren't quite there yet, some expertise and support (assuming it's truly there) might help them reach the next level. Sometimes I wonder how many quality groups there are waiting in the wings who are truly ready to take the mainstage and become A level artists. The identity associated with a strong brand might be helpful. (And yeah, pay the royalties!)

I always found it interesting that when the Cathedrals retired, Homeland folded (they hung around for a couple more years, but not very long).

Wasn't Ben Speer a big part of Homeland, as well? I know that the Cathedrals (or at least George or Glen) were involved at one point, as well.

At one point Bill Traylor had moved to California and gone to work for a piano company. Is he now back at Homeland? Evidently there are other people (read new investors) involved and holding the CEO title at the newly resurrectied "Homeland" label. It seems the old reputation of not paying royalites in a timely fashion would be difficult to overcome and would make artists a little reluctant. IT will be interesting to see how it all shakes out.
