From Doug’s comments it appears he is saying that his interns say it is especially hard to keep the pornbots at bay IF you are someone who checks from portable devices etc. His point was that those who do not keep any more vigilant than that have more trouble in keeping it from happening. He didn’t say that Aaron was one of those.

As far as DBM, his point there seemed to be poking fun at people who are out to blame the evil internet for such things. He used David to be facetious or even sarcastic that because he had dared made the suggestion that SG utilize digital tools, we should hold him responsible. This is to show that there are those people who think it is sinful to use, they were right, and we should burn the one who started it at the stake.

I pretty much respect what DBMurray has to say, but he slightly missed the point in #21, which Swain tried to build on. Here’s what Doug really said: “But I frankly think it would make for much more incendiary discussion … IF SOMEONE BLAMED (emphasis added), oh, … say, David Bruce Murray. After all, he DID urge southern gospel music to become a leader in innovative uses of digital technology online, didn’t he?”
Doug didn’t blame, he used the “someone” and he tied it into DBM’s support of using innovative digitial. I’m sure that the porn thing was not what he had in mind. Accurate quotation contributes to discussion.

And about me checking it from a handheld device, I assure you I check it on my family computer at home. Just wanted to clear that up, since I saw that Doug had something about “… a particularly lazy intern who approves most of the pending comments using a handheld device whose tiny screen complicates reading and sifting comments, even moreso while in the car or in an elevator or while trying to cook…”.

Like I said, I check that myspace everyday, even more so than my own. That is simply because if something like what happened to the fansite was done to mine, I could get rid of it quickly and no one would know. But the fansite I’m running has so many fans, and the group it supports is so well-known, something like that would most certainly stir up something. Heck, I’m thankful that I was able to clean it off and apologize to Scott Fowler without the news of it spreading to an SG message board somewhere (although I would like to know how it managed to travel here…). I cannot express enough how sorry I am to L5 for that even being on there by hacking, nor can I express how angry I am at myself for letting that slip through the barriers I thought I had put up.

Saying a Christian group shouldn’t use MySpace to promote their music is like saying you should stop using email due to spam for Viagra.

Just as you can fight spam to a degree, you can take precautions to keep filth off of your MySpace account. It’s just a question of whether or not getting your message into the highways and hedges is important.

To Liz: “C’mon any and everybody knows that myspace is full of sinful things.” - Liz, True. But the world is full of sinful things, the internet is full of sinful things. Myspace is quickly taking the place of email and every major band has a site, including every major SG artist. There are 100’s of thousands of Christians using myspace to spread the gospel message. It’s just another tool - that can be used for good or bad.

Hello all,
I run that site, and I check the Myspace nearly every day, what with all the friend requests coming in. I wrote Scott back and apologized, because I did not realize such things were on there. I deleted the user who posted them and deleted the comments. I would appreciate it if Doug would inform everyone that the problem is solved, and that I never meant for something like this to happen.

Well, if a SG groupd has their own website then why do they need a myspace page? I mean if they want people to post comments about things that are going on with them and their group, then set something up on their personal sites. C’mon any and everybody knows that myspace is full of sinful things.
