That’s the way the good folks over at sogospelnews.com rendered the URL for this site in their version of the press release announcing the Diamond Awards finalists (Avery is up for favorite industry website this year). Because, you know, that way no one will find out what URL they’re talking about or be able to cast any votes for the site that dare not speak its name.

I’m no code talker, but I think that’s what you’d refer to as #$%@*&# brilliant. Another victory for the kingdom!

Anyway, the full, declassified list of nominees and voting instructions are here. Thanks for the nomination. Seriously.

And if I win, I promise to open my acceptance speech with “Unthank you very much.”

As usual Doug, once again you take the high road. If you win, your trophy should be a big spoon to represent how you love to stir the pot.

Hahaha. Hilarious. That’s flat out hilarious. Hahaha. My keyboard simply cannot express just how funny this post is.

Wait, let me clarify. Not the entire post, but the line, “Another victory for the kingdom!”

Genius. You devote your small, arrogant, hypocritical, and perverse life to criticizing this genre of music and the people who take part in it, but when they show any sign of putting forth anything that remotely resembles criticism toward you…

    “Another victory for the kingdom!”

Hahaha. averyfineline at the Diamond Awards - Hahaha.

Looks like they have corrected the reference to your site now! Congratulations on your nomination.

    Congratulations, ****!

you’re surprised by this? after the way you’ve trashed them through all the years i don’t blame them for a second.

    what goes around comes around.

I don’t know if this post helped correct the name on their site, complaints did or if it was simply a censored word over there from early on that also censored the press release and was corrected. It could be either of the three.

  7. quartet-man wrote:

Actually, I just looked and it is still that way.

    Not Likely,

And yet you’re here, aren’t you? You’re here visiting and commenting on a website written by someone you have judged to be “small, arrogant, hypocritical, and perverse.” You didn’t just say that about Doug’s work, you said it about his life. Yet you’re still here. That’s what MY keyboard finds hilarious.

  9. Wade wrote:

Nope gina it is still there and that is THE FUNNIEST thing I have ever seen. It would be even funnier if it wasn’t so Jr. High!!

That is just how some good Christian ppl give THANKS!! or is it UNTHANKS!! lol

  10. Not Likely wrote:

    I haven’t seen any corrections.

  11. Wade wrote:

The Diamond Award web site did it to increase their traffic… they had to do something. Would love to know the hit count today vs. yesterday. Bet it is UP significantly.

As far as Dr. DH trashing them as lulufan stated… I have never seen them trashed here except for what is due. If some one calls me fat they are speaking the truth…that’s not trashing…maybe a little uncreative but still the truth. Gotta take the good with the bad.

I go to the site to read a couple of the columns but I also do it to laugh about some of the post and what they contain. Funny too is they shut down threads when ppl start quoting scripture. lol… If they did that here we would be in serious trouble… dr. joe blow and sgfan would not have anything to say if they could not plagiarize and spin the scriptures.

    Good man yourself Doug.

  13. Not Likely wrote:

Haha. JLL - That’s great stuff. Yes, I did say those things about his life. LOL. And you’re right. I have come here two or three times before… you got me. Yep. I’m definitely contributing to and borderline endorsing what he does here.

    LOL. Good rebuttal.

I can’t say I’m a fan of your politics, but I’m rooting for you, Dr.D.

Congratulations on the nomination! Recognition that Avery has earned through persistence over the last what–4 years and counting? Few blogs last even a year. This is exceptional, and so is averyfineline.com.

  16. Wade wrote:

ahhh judi… Dr. DH called and said I could be his surrogate for your affection!! lol

This was absolutely hilarious. You know when the Unthanks make it to this site, it’s so bad it’s good.

  18. RF wrote:

If it wasn’t so sad, it would be funny. The Unthanks (and you know, I had never heard that name before sogospel.com–is that a real name?) are pretty thin skinned. I used to go over there and after awhile I figured out that the site was less than “fair and balanced.” In fact, it wasn’t very good, so I stay away a lot.

I really can’t remember when any secular organization has done this–totally block out an opponent’s name–and I find it just so petty and small. But that’s why Christians sometimes turn people off. How many times have you invited someone to church and they’ve told you stories like this?

Regardless, I’m rooting for averyfineline.com, the only blog that dares to judge the music and not the people in it or their testimony. It’s the quality of the music that we’re supposed to discuss here (and how that got off track is anyone’s guess). Despite many sidetracks, Avery still does that. And the multitudes roar.

    Go get ‘em, Doug!

Either you did a good job of campaigning or you are reaping what you have sowed in the past year.

It’s still not changed on the press release. The website is spelled out on the ballot, so that may be what gina was referring to.

    Anyway, congrats, Doug.

  21. lulufan02 wrote:

#18 - you really think DH is an opponent of sogospel? they are two totally different sites aimed at two totally different audiences.

I think DH has a good thing going here but lets be honest with ourselves he has been rather nasty to the whole unthank clan. if I owned there site I’d probably do the same thing.

  22. Charles Brady wrote:

    For #18 RF:

Please note that the Unthanks have nothing to do with Sogospel.com. Sogospel is owned by Caraway Media Group.

    Their site is sogospelnews.com

Or xxxxxxxxxx.com depending on the wishes of the editor here at #######.com .. LOL!!!

Many have been the days I wish they would have chosen another name to tag news onto other than SoGospel.

  23. Better Memory wrote:

#21, lulufan02 You must not have been around in the beginning. Early on southerngospelnews.com refused to allow this site to be even mentioned over there and went out of their way to “out” who averyfineline really was. That should have been his decision. Doug is far from an angel I am sure, but I would put the first blame on them. This isn’t the only site they have pulled things on or people they have crossed.

I haven’t really had problems with them, but those who step outside of the small box they have or comment or question too much on their tight policies have been banned in the past. They have loosened up a little I think, but not enough. It is their site though, so they can do what they want.

  24. Not Likely wrote:

#18 RF - “…averyfineline.com, the only blog that dares to judge the music and not the people in it or their testimony.”

    Now THAT’S funny.

  26. RF wrote:

Charles Brady (#18) I knew that. It had been so long since I’d been over to the unthanks site, that I forgot! Love your site!

As for being funny…maybe I can get into show business and make the homecoming tour as a comedian?

  27. not beavis wrote:

you are way funnier than Aaron Wilburn, so why not give it a shot?

  28. j-mo wrote:

Obviously, you haven’t heard Cats in the Kettle. Get it? Chinese people eat cats!

  29. not beavis wrote:

Yes, I’ve heard that one, and it is the exception that proves the rule, but go on youtube and check out Aaron, RF, Brad Stine and Tim Hawkins and come back and tell me which one is the funniest

  30. cynical one wrote:

#29 not bevis — I sure hope you don’t think Brad Stine is the funniest of those you listed. I like Aaron and Tim Hawkins, but have you seen John Banyon. Check him out, and Kenn Kingston. Funny guys I’ve recently discovered.

  31. j-mo wrote:

I was being sarcastic. You’re right that Cats in the Kettle is probably the funniest thing Wilburn has done, but that isn’t saying much.

And, if you think Brad Stine is much funnier…put a helmet on!

does anybody think that if AVFL was to win the vote count that it would be awarded to the site??

I’m betting they are not going to have a recognized Accounting Firm certify the results!!!

But lets face it …this site is the WINNER until and unless some one shows me another one with even half as many hits and interaction!!!

  34. Angie M wrote:

Well, #############.com is going to get at least one more vote than it would have otherwise. Are these people twelve?

  35. Wade wrote:

Hey Angie… Well #############.com got my vote too and I do not remember the last time I went on line and voted unless it was simple click on no more than a 4part multiple choice vote…

I can’t wait to see how they certify the votes???

oh & Angie…my son is 12 don’t be unthankfully running my boy down like that he is much more mature… and the funnies thing is I am not going to waste my time to go look but I bet it is still there uncorrected… longer it stays that way and the data of how they are going to certify the votes makes it more & more childish.

I know they read here because they friended me on facebook.

    TGIF everybody….
