How much do musicians get paid?
Well, it’s hard to say exactly, or at least hard to say concisely, and evidently words aren’t enough. Via Andrewsullivan.com, a visually demanding graph that tries to tackle the question … and the answer.

Any of you who follow the CCM world have doubtless heard that Jennifer Knapp, who enjoyed some fame and achievement particularly about ten years ago in CCM (she won best new artist in the Dove Awards in 1999), recently confirmed on the record with Christianity Today what many folks had suspected for years: she’s gay. Money quote:
It never […]
Uhm, I don’t want to alarm anyone or anything, but Peg McKamey is (sort of) on Facebook (h/t, KC).
No, not that Goodwill … I’m referring instead to something I ran across rereading Fanny Flagg’s novel Standing in the Rainbow. It’s that time when I order books for next semester’s classes, and since I’m reteaching the Gospel Music and American Lit course at the graduate level in the fall, I took another spin through […]
Not that this crowd needs an excuse for a free-for-all, but we’re about due for one of these, methinks. So here goes. Some stuff to get us started:
Changes afoot at the Singing News, including a move to Nashville, Danny Jones becoming editor, and Amy Grant replacing Connie Hopper as columnist. Ok. I made that last […]

If nothing else, points for […]
The Gaitherization continues. Yes, Chris Allman is back with Greater Vision, it seems. Consider this your open thread to rejoice in whatever publicly appropriate way you wish.
Update: Here’s an idea: replace the Sarah Palin sideshow with a Welcome Back Allman showcase (and won’t it be interesting to see if this announcement upstages the NQC news […]
So the news of Sarah Palin’s appearance at NQC has been pinging around the interblogs and the reaction has been decidedly … meh. Comments skeptical of - or outright appalled by - Palin’s appearance easily ran 2 to 1 ahead of the supporters here. And the trend isn’t much different over at the NQC Facebook […]
Alas, ’tis true. From the NQC Facebook feed just now (h/t, KC):
“Governor Sarah Palin will be the keynote speaker at NQC on Thursday, Sept16. Details will be on www.natqc.com tomorrow”
And so it gets just a little bit harder to explain to my non-sg friends why I listen to and love southern gospel. You betcha.
PS: NQC […]
